Saturday saw the sun shine down on the Strokes course as 12 intrepid players took to the greens for 4 rounds of tournament play to celebrate Sue Forrest's birthday and to battle it out in the second annual KMGC Megabowl! After some outstanding personal bests and cracking play, the reigining champion retained his vice like grip on the Megabowl - Congratulations to Andy 'No.2' Exall for a superb display, following an uncharacteristic blip in the first round with 2 course record equalling rounds!! Commisseration to Sean 'Freebird' Homer, leading until the final round who could only take his hat off to Andy for a cracking last round 31. Special mentions go out to our intrepid junior players who graced the day with their presence - firstly Jennifer 'Twinkletoes' Forrest for showing all present how to ace the infamous 17th (Beecher's Brook) and completing her display of top class minigolfing with her legendary tigger dance!!! And secondly a shout out for Owen 'Jackpot' Johnson for yet another example of how to play the game in the right spirit and determination - and for showing those who witnessed it the most amazing recovery shot on the 4th (Big Willy) - for a two that was better than any ace!!! Truly Incredible and an inspiration to everyone present.

With the ceremonies completed and the Megabowl safely tucked away in the Tesco carrier bag it was time to celebrate Sue's birthday. Having serenaded the birthday girl with an awesome version of Happy Birthday (quite possibly louder than the famous KIT bomb detonation incident), Sue cut her specially prepared Duffy Moon cake (you can do it!!) and dished it out to everyone - a terrific end to another terrific day in the history of the KMGC.

So with a few pre-British Open (and KIT) rounds in the bag, a piece of cake in our hands and a marvellously colourful selection of sunburn on display in the club house, the 2009 Megabowl was officially over. Thanks to everyone for making it a cracking day and to Matt, Frankie and Brian as always for their hospitality.

and MEGABOWL will be back in 2010!!
